Allemagnetti
Allemagnetti made their Weill Recital Carnegie Hall Debut, May 10, 2009, at 5:30 PM. The concert featured 3 world premieres by Garrett Byrnes, Thomas Pasatieri, and Kamran Ince, along with some other of our favorite hits. New York Concert Review called the group "a winning pair," and the concert a "highly promising debut." Maggie Snyder and Alexandra Snyder Dunbar are the members of the Viola and Harpsichord duo, Allemagnetti, established in February of 2008. They are two of six children in the Snyder musical family, originating from Memphis, TN. The German and Italian heritage denotes the name of the duo: Allemande, a French word meaning Germany, which is a baroque dance movement, and Magnetti, the family name of the duo’s Italian born grandmother. Allemagnetti is also a combination of Maggie and Alexandra’s names: Al ‘e’ Mag. Maggie and Alexandra are both professional musicians and have performed throughout numerous concert venues across the US and abroad. The duo has performed in West Virginia, New York City, Memphis, and in Juilliard’s Paul Hall. Among many other professional accomplishments, Maggie is on faculty at West Virginia University and the Brevard Music Festival, and Alexandra is a doctoral student at the Juilliard School, where she is a teaching fellow. Collectively, they hold degrees from Interlochen Arts Academy, University of Memphis, Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, and The Juilliard School. They have performed together since they were infants. Maggie and Alexandra and their family received special recognition in 2006 for their annual New Year’s Eve family recital program in Memphis by then Congressman Harold Ford. |
