Undergraduate 4-Year Curriculum

The Undergraduate Viola Curriculum will involve all or most of the following:

  1. Private Lessons weekly,

  2. Studio Class Weekly

  3. Technique class weekly

  4. Excerpt Class (every fall semester for all performance major students except freshmen)

  5. Juries (all semesters except those with graded recitals, and after the first graded recital for DMA students)

  6. Orchestra - every semester enrolled in private lessons

  7. Chamber music - AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

  8. Solo Recitals- Sophomore (20 minute), Junior (30-45 minutes), Senior (45-60), MM both years with program notes and a MM Oral Comprehensive exam based on the program to accompany one program, DMA 3 solo recitals

The following is a partial list and is to be used as a reference. Curriculum for the individual student is based upon prior experience and potential for growth and acquisition of repertoire.
