The 2017-2018 HHSOM UGA VIOLAS T’SHIRT DESIGN

The HHSOM UGA VIola Studio has a new t’shirt design every year!

We love to host prospective students at the Hugh for a recruitment day in viola! When you visit you can expect to come to campus early on a Friday for an into-session with our recruitment officer, a sample lesson with me in my studio, and observation of our technique class followed by our studio class. Students can also schedule a campus tour or an informal Q&A with possible future classmates and current students. Visit the Hugh Hodgson School of Music Website for more information about audition dates and to contact our recruitment officer.

Past (UGA-VLAS) students have had many successes and are employed across the US and overseas in Houston, Tennessee, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and in Seoul, South Korea. Students have received scholarships and teaching assistantships to prestigious graduate programs across the country and overseas, at such programs as the Peabody Conservatory, Rice University, New England Conservatory, Indiana University, The University of Michigan, North Texas, and the Hochschule fur Musik “Hanns Eisler.”

Students who enroll at UGA can expect a broad curriculum with an active schedule. Students play in orchestra (4 concerts per semester), meet weekly for studio class, meet weekly for technique class, have an optional play-through class for performance anxiety issues, meet weekly for orchestral excerpt class (offered every fall), and have the option of joining our new UGA Viola Ensemble. Additionally, students are encouraged to seek out registering for chamber music and participating in our active chamber music program.
